The League gets back underway for Sandwich on 21st Oct so we'll be having a pre-season curry on the Friday before to give us a chance to recover before the match. Lets see if our new President can match the old one's rousing pre-season speeches!! Please let Tim know if you're planning on coming
Thinking of doing something a little different- a bbq/beach trip/picnic event perhaps? Since all of these are everso weather dependent (unless someone fancies bbqing and I'll stay indoors in the warm?) more details closer to the time - british weather's unpredictable you know, it could be snowing. But pop it in your diary, we'll find something to do!
A great night was had by all at the Canterbury Festival's Ceilidh. Who knew how much fun and exercise it will be.... apart from our Scottish contingent's solo memeber John, who strutted his stuff in full and traditional Scottish attire. We'll be back next year for sure.
The traditional dinner at ASK in Canterbury, including the traditional rousing speech by the Chairman (its a tradition now!) followed by drinks in the Blind Dog, which is our tradition by the way. This is a traditional Sandwich event in case you hadn't guessed!
Hello all,
We took a team to Luxembourg for the 7th international tournament hosted by the KCL Roude Léiw on the weekend of June 17th and 18th 2006.
It was a great weekend away! We stayed at the Youth Hostel
Club Sandwich members who went along are Alex H, John, Nadia, Brett, Cat, Linda, David, Dan J, Kate, Karl and Alex G.
The plan is as follows:
Drinks in the White Hart (Canterbury) from 5pm (for those loving the early start), moving on to dinner at Tia (nice curry house) (8pm), then on to HaHas, and ending up
well wherever!
I organised a trip there recently, since its been done up, and a grand time was had by all (they have a firemans pole and flashing lights and everything!). The plan is to meet in the bar at 7pm (near the blockbusters in Canterbury) to start playing at 7.30. 2 games for a fiver, can't be bad huh?! Then out for drinks afterwards for those who want to (you may want to bring a spare t-shirt, its sweaty work!)
Let me know if you want to join us by next Friday (12th May) please so that I can get everything booked up. (For those of you who find this part difficult, this means a REPLY is required! I will not be guessing if you're coming or not!)
Looking forward to all your lovely replies!

Saturday 21st January 2006
After all the excitement of Christmas everyone needs a pick me up in January. A late New Years night out with dinner and drinks.
Anyway the 1st Korfball Social of 2006 is going to be a Burns' Night (okay a couple of days early but never mind).
The plan, such as it is:
John's house (details will follow) for Address to Haggis; followed by Haggis, tatties and neeps (the English among you call it Swede apparently!) ; Address to ladies (such as there are); response; some traditional Scottish desert; Whisky.
Then off to Canterbury for some more drinks (for a change!)
Anyway at this point need to get and idea of Nos and also whether you'd prefer proper haggis or veggie haggis (both of which are really nice honest). If you could email John by Tuesday evening that would be great.

A Pub Crawl to sample the delights of Canterbury, with a few Christmas twists!
Certainly an interesting night!
Upon arrival at the Penny Theatre in Canterbury everyone was issued with their beautiful home crafted stocking, which detailed the course the night would be following. Charting a pub crawl through Canterbury to end up at the wonderful establishment which is The Works, drinks were drunk and the boxes ticked off, with extra points for tequila, sambuca or Guinness. A good number also managed to save Santa when he fell into their drink, heroically downing their drink to prevent him from drowning (think of all the unhappy children if hed have drowned!) There were a number of completed stockings by the end of the night, although the memories get hazier as the night went on! Special mention, however, should go to Rob, who drank 4 shots to get his Guinness box ticked off as they didnt serve Guinness in the Works thats the sort of dedication we need to be seeing in matches!!
Check out the photos to see the shenanigans in action and please do note that I was still wearing those ridiculous elf ears right to the end the man in the kebab shop loved it!!

Dinner: 8pm at Ask in Canterbury
Including a rousing speech by Mr John Harvey, Club Sandwich Chairman.
Followed by drinks and dancing till dawn!
To kick off the new season in style we headed out for a lovely 3 course Italian - very classy to begin with, but then the vino got flowing
by the end of the meal when it was time for Johns rousing speech, the audience was loosened up and ready for him. And what a speech it was! Taking inspiration from his recent trek up Kilimanjaro (not on Club Sandwich funds you understand) John treated us with an awe-inspiring rendition of how the God of Korf came to deliver the 5 commandments of Korfball to him and how this might improve our game
the only commandment we can remember is Covent thy opponents ball(s) but I think it gives you a flavour of the event
Good fun all round, a cracking start to the Korfball year!
